Application of DEA and SFA on the Way of measuring of Operating

Summary: The functioning efficiency of your port is a critical aspect for its competitiveness in the foreign market. Past research to get port working efficiencies measurement usually adopts either DEA or SFA method, however, not both of them. Therefore , this paper is aimed to measure the operating efficiencies of 27 international container ports from 1999 to 2002 by applying the two SFA and DEA models with three inputs and single end result. The result demonstrates that the total common of functioning efficiency scores are SFATR(0. 8217) пјћ SFACD(0. 7979)пјћDEABCC(0. 7075)пјћDEACCR(0. 6150), and Hong Kong port demonstrates the best functionality in every single model. Also, three hypotheses for slot performance, such as geographical location of port, dock administrative structure, and countrywide economic growth rate, happen to be performed in this paper. The results present that the working efficiencies are generally not significantly different with the earlier two ideas; however , the last hypothesis shows significant difference in DEA version.

1 ) INTRODUCTION
The efficiency of port operation is an important indication of financial development as more than many of these of the global international control is done by way of maritime transportation. To be able to assist the container ports to identify their particular strengths, weak spot, and the potentially existent dangers and options in a competitive environment, it is essentially necessary and crucial to select some impartial and objective actions for launching the performance evaluation.
